The Australian Junior Golf Academy was an original concept of Beverley Park Golf Club Head Professional and AAA accredited PGA Professional Brad Mitchell. The AJGA has been established to enable juniors in our community to learn and play the game of golf and to bring more juniors back to the wonderful game of golf.
The AJGA was launched in 2006 following years of experimenting with different ideas and methods of tuition with local juniors. Through tailored activities and simple games which develop the techniques of golf, the younger players are able to extend their basic motor skills & social interaction to participate and most importantly enjoy the social, leisure and sporting aspects of the game.
The Australian Junior Golf Academy has been a long time dream for Principal Brad Mitchell. Through his hard work and positive word of mouth through the community, the academy has been established and expanded to offer the diversity it does today. The AJGA now has a team of PGA professional coaches and dedicated staff to make a significant impact on junior golf today and for the future. The link between School Clinics and private or group lessons at both TGDR and BPGC, will ultimately provide a launching platform for pioneering junior competitive events in a fun, enjoyable, non-contact atmosphere.
Until the commencement of AJGA in 2006, there had been virtually no support for talented junior golfers. Recognising this gaping hole in the industry, Brad sought to emulate the success of other sporting bodies that were actively targeting juniors at a far younger age through schools and introductory programs. Traditionally, golf tuition began at the age of 12, but now thanks to AJGA children as young as 2 years old can learn the basics of this wonderful sport.
The Australian Junior Golf Academy has a range of programs suited to children of all ages and sporting capabilities. These include during- and after-school clinics, school holiday camps, group or individual lessons at either Tempe Golf Driving Range or Beverley Park Golf Club, even our FREE introduction days known as “Come and Try” golf days at both venues. The major objective here is to allow the younger children to be involved in a safe, calm learning environment using the Tri-Golf junior golf equipment to make sure they have fun along the way whilst developing their skills. |
